Job description

About the Organisation

St Vincent de Paul Society has been assisting people experiencing disadvantage in Australia for more than 175 years. Its volunteer-led work spans home visitation, homelessness assistance, family violence support, help for migrants and refugees, mental health initiatives, education and training, youth services, and the operation of Vinnies shops.

About the Role

The IT Systems and Security Administrator is central to keeping the National Council Secretariat’s technology environment secure, dependable, and running smoothly. This position combines daily IT support with administration of Microsoft 365 cloud services, endpoint management platforms, and security awareness activities. It also involves producing and maintaining clear technical and user-facing documentation.

You will work alongside internal teams, external partners, and service providers to ensure support issues, system enhancements, and security tasks are handled efficiently and aligned with business priorities. The role suits someone who is organised, service-focused, confident in technical decision-making, and eager to strengthen their skills in systems administration and cyber security.

Experience using generative AI tools to improve productivity, documentation, and service delivery is considered an advantage, provided they are used responsibly and with attention to security and privacy.

Key Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in IT systems administration, service desk, or technical support, with exposure to end-user devices, Microsoft 365, identity management, and routine business systems administration.
  • Hands-on administration of Microsoft 365 tools such as Entra ID, Intune, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive, plus experience with Windows device setup, enrolment, configuration, and onboarding users.
  • Strong practical troubleshooting ability across hardware, operating systems, software issues, user access, and common workplace technology problems, including knowing when to escalate.
  • Basic working knowledge of cyber security principles relevant to cloud and systems administration, including the ASD Essential Eight, identity protection, vulnerability handling, phishing awareness, and secure access controls.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical matters simply, support users professionally, and contribute to reports or summaries for operational and security decisions.
  • Interest in ongoing learning through training, practical experience, or certifications, with familiarity in generative AI tools being highly regarded. Microsoft, endpoint management, or introductory cyber security certifications are desirable but not mandatory.
