Role overview

SSC Services for Education is looking to add janitorial staff for both full-time and part-time shifts in Columbia, South Carolina. The assignment is based at Richland School District Two, 9800 Dunbarton Drive, Columbia, SC 29223, with additional openings possible at other school locations within the district. Schedule and pay

This opportunity offers full-time and part-time schedules, Monday through Friday, with hours that can vary. Further scheduling details will be shared during the interview. The pay rate is between $12.00 and $14.00 per hour.

What the job involves

The janitor will be responsible for keeping buildings tidy, sanitary, and organized. The work includes heavy-duty cleaning such as floor care, rug shampooing, wall and glass washing, and trash removal.

Key duties

• Remove and dispose of trash using approved methods and infection-control guidelines.
• Dust and mop floors according to required procedures.
• Relocate furniture and equipment for cleaning, then return items to their proper places.
• Clean assigned spaces using provided materials and equipment and sanitize surfaces as needed.
• Follow the eight-step cleaning process.
• Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and similar surfaces to help maintain a clean and safe setting.
• Notice areas that need attention and take initiative to clean them.
• Complete instructions and tasks given by the supervisor.
• Work in line with all federal, state, and county rules.
• Strip, scrub, buff, and refinish floors; shampoo carpets as required.
• Work cooperatively with teammates and maintain a professional attitude with customers, coworkers, and others.
• Carry out additional duties when assigned.

Requirements

• Previous janitorial or custodial experience is preferred.
• Must be able to perform the essential duties of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Candidates may need to complete Florida Level 2 background screening for certain roles.
• Availability for weekday scheduling is important.
