Journalist

Position Overview

This is a remote hourly contract opportunity for a journalist based in India. The role requires a weekly commitment of 10 to 40 hours.

What You’ll Do

• Investigate story ideas, shape pitches, and produce original news pieces and feature stories.
• Carry out interviews and confirm facts through dependable, credible sources.
• Create content that is clear, accurate, and engaging for a wide range of readers.
• Review and refine drafts to maintain quality, clarity, and consistency.
• Work closely with editors and other team members to strengthen the overall narrative.
• Track developments, current affairs, and trends related to assigned beats or topics.
• Follow journalistic ethics while safeguarding accuracy and editorial integrity.

Requirements

• Proven journalism background supported by a portfolio of published work.
• Excellent command of written and spoken communication.
• Solid ability to research, interview sources, and verify information.
• Comfort working on your own and delivering work under tight timelines.
• Strong analytical thinking and careful attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of media law, ethical standards, and newsroom practices.
• Familiarity with digital tools used for writing, editing, and team collaboration.
