About the Role
Mekanism is looking for a Junior Copywriter who brings energy, initiative, and a genuine passion for making great creative work. The ideal candidate takes pride in their craft, enjoys working in a collaborative agency setting, and has a strong entrepreneurial mindset.
In this position, you will partner directly with an Art Director and collaborate with teams across the agency to develop multi-channel campaigns of varying scope. You should be a sharp conceptual thinker with interest in creative ideas, popular culture, new technologies, and language, along with the confidence to take direction and solve problems effectively.
Compensation
The salary for this role is expected to fall between CAD 50,000 and CAD 60,000 per year, based on experience. This is an existing vacancy.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop original ideas and confidently present concepts with enthusiasm.
- Work alongside an Art Director to shape creative ideas that align with project goals.
- Collaborate with Creative Directors, Account Services, Strategy, and Delivery teams from the initial brief through production.
- Help raise the agency’s creative bar by contributing to impactful, award-quality work.
- Stay current on new technologies, innovations, and social, cultural, and industry trends so client ideas remain relevant and effective.
- Make sure all messaging supports client objectives.
- Write with clarity, precision, and persuasiveness while maintaining grammatical and factual accuracy.
- Prepare and polish concepts for internal reviews and client-facing presentations.
- Support other teams by contributing to their creative briefs when needed.
- Participate actively in brainstorming and creative planning discussions.
- Offer practical solutions and work as a dependable team player.
- Be comfortable operating in an integrated agency environment.
Skills and Qualifications
- 0 to 3 years of experience in an agency setting.
- Strong background in social content.
- Excellent creative and conceptual thinking ability.
- Good listener who can accept feedback and grow from constructive critique.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
- Ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities, deadlines, and direction.
- Comfort in a busy, fast-moving environment.
- Genuine interest in producing standout creative work that drives results.
- Undergraduate diploma or degree in design, marketing, or a related equivalent field.
