Job description
About Mutinex
Mutinex is an early-stage B2B SaaS business focused on building a durable, scalable company rather than pursuing rapid hype. The company already has a validated platform, strong-name clients, and substantial revenue in place.
Its core purpose is to create a universal decision engine for business growth. The product helps marketing, media, agency, analytics, and finance teams structure, interpret, and act on data at scale so they can identify and improve the real levers behind sustainable growth.
The team is distributed across Sydney, Melbourne, and New York, and the culture values direct communication, varied viewpoints, ongoing learning, and regular feedback.
The Role
Mutinex is looking for a driven Junior Product Designer to join its expanding design function and help shape its vision for the world’s first Growth Co-Pilot.
In this role, you will partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders across the full design journey. This includes user research, defining problems, exploring concepts, creating wireframes, and producing refined high-fidelity design work.
You will contribute across discovery and delivery, with real input into product decisions and execution. Because the company operates in a fast-moving startup environment, you may also support Brand, Marketing, and Sales by creating brand materials, campaign assets, and presentation decks for new business.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the complete product design process, from initial research and problem definition through to final design output.
- Create personas, journey maps, empathy maps, wireframes, prototypes, and polished interface designs.
- Work directly with engineers to deliver well-specified, production-ready product experiences.
- Help plan and run both qualitative and quantitative research to test and refine design ideas.
- Contribute to or help maintain design systems and component libraries.
- Apply strong visual design judgment, with the ability to support branding work when needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Marketing.
- Support adjacent business needs such as brand assets, campaign collateral, and sales presentations when required.
Requirements
- 0-2 years of experience working as a UX/UI Designer or Product Designer.
- Hands-on experience across end-to-end design workflows using methods such as personas, user journeys, empathy mapping, wireframing, and prototyping.
- Comfort working alongside engineers to ship thoughtful products with detailed specifications.
- Confidence assisting with both qualitative and quantitative research activities.
- Exposure to or contribution toward design systems or pattern libraries.
- Strong visual design ability; experience in branding will be an advantage.
- Advanced proficiency in Figma for wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity design work.
- Familiarity with AI tools, especially Claude Code, is desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Curiosity and a strong desire to understand customer problems deeply.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to take in feedback from multiple stakeholders.
- Commercial awareness and the flexibility to balance process depth with speed.
- A portfolio containing 2-3 projects that show strategic product thinking and successful digital product delivery.
Why Join Mutinex?
Mutinex is challenging the consulting-led approach to Marketing Mix Modelling with modern technology. With a strong product-market fit and well-known customers already using the platform, the company is set to play a leading role in the next wave of growth analytics.
By joining the team, you will build in-demand UX/UI skills while contributing to a product that matters to major Australian businesses. You will work closely with experienced Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists, and Marketers, with the opportunity to shape product direction and business growth.
The culture is built around transparency, ownership, and continuous learning. Team members are encouraged to act with leadership, move quickly, keep learning, and think in numbers.
You will also gain practical exposure to artificial intelligence and data science, working in a space alongside companies such as Snowflake, OpenAI, Fivetran, Amplitude, Segment, and Monte Carlo. As the company expands, there may be opportunity to share in its success through equity options.
Why Work With Us?
- Your work will have a direct impact on the platform and customer outcomes.
- The role involves solving complex data and infrastructure problems at scale.
- You will have autonomy and ownership, with support when needed.
- You will learn alongside a capable team of engineers and data scientists.
- All team members receive equity through an ESOP.
- Parental leave includes 12 weeks paid leave for the birth parent and 6 weeks for the secondary carer after 2 years.
- Annual leave starts at 20 days, increases by 5 days after the first year, and then adds 1 extra day each year up to 30 days.
- You can work from anywhere in the world for up to 6 weeks each year with your laptop.
Inclusion
Mutinex is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to building a diverse, inclusive workplace. Applicants from all backgrounds, identities, experiences, and abilities are encouraged to apply.
If you need support or adjustments during the hiring process, the company is open to helping with accommodations.
How to Apply
Interested candidates are asked to send a resume and a short note explaining why the role is exciting to them. The company values motivation and fit over perfect formatting.
