Junior Quantity Surveyor

Role overview

A respected Tier 2 main building contractor is hiring a Junior Quantity Surveyor for a high-profile hospitality scheme in County Clare. The project has just started and is expected to run for more than two years. In this position, you will work alongside Intermediate and Senior Quantity Surveyors on site and gain broad, hands-on exposure to the full quantity surveying function.

What you will do

• Work under the direction of the Senior Quantity Surveyor and provide regular updates on commercial matters.
• Attend pre-award meetings with newly appointed subcontractors.
• Track contra charges and issue the required notifications to subcontractors.
• Assist in preparing the final account at project completion.
• Help compile interim payment applications to the Project Quantity Surveyor together with the Senior QS.
• Carry out cost tracking and reporting using construction software.
• Review tender enquiries and support tender analysis.
• Manage procurement and on-site monitoring of subcontractor packages.
• Handle subcontractor re-measurements, interim payments, and final account settlements.
• Prepare fortnightly and monthly subcontractor payment certificates.
• Record variations and maintain the variation register.

Skills and experience needed

The role suits someone with 1 to 2 years of experience in quantity surveying, ideally supported by a diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying. Strong written and verbal communication, solid interpersonal ability, and a genuine team-oriented approach are important. You should also be comfortable working closely with senior colleagues and contributing to day-to-day site and commercial coordination.

Package

The salary offered is €40,000 to €50,000, depending on experience. A benefits package is also included.
