Job description

Opportunity

We are seeking a committed, hands-on cleaner to help maintain a clean, hygienic, and comfortable environment for dogs and staff. You will work with dog handlers to care for kennel areas and shared spaces, supporting the health and well-being of animals waiting to be adopted. This role suits someone who is comfortable with active, physically demanding work in a busy setting.

About the Organization

Dog Tales Rescue & Sanctuary is a well-known dog rescue and horse sanctuary located on 50 acres in King City, Ontario. The property includes walking trails, therapy pools, and a grooming spa. The organization cares for abused and neglected animals by providing medical treatment, training, attention, and love so they can recover and move into permanent homes. For animals that are not adopted, Dog Tales remains their home for life.

If you want to join a compassionate, high-energy team and contribute to meaningful animal care work, this could be a strong fit.

Key Duties

  • Clean kennel rooms several times throughout the day to maintain hygiene standards.
  • Make sure each dog has suitable bedding, toys, and clean water bowls.
  • Manage laundry tasks and prepare fresh blankets and beds for the dogs.
  • Sort, wash, and arrange donated items such as beds, blankets, and toys.
  • Support other departments whenever help is needed.

What We Are Looking For

  • At least 2 years of experience in professional cleaning.
  • Clear and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to stay productive both alone and as part of a team in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong focus on accuracy and cleanliness.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy items.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay with a benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Additional healthcare support, including resources for mental well-being.
  • Complimentary daily meals during work shifts.
  • Paid vacation and paid sick leave.
  • Regular employee appreciation events to support a positive workplace culture.
  • Group Registered Savings Plan (GRSP).

Schedule and Work Conditions

This is an on-site role. The facility requires year-round animal care, so work includes weekends, evenings, and holidays. Shifts rotate between 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM and 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Monday through Sunday, with one weekend off each month. Reliable access to a car is required because there is no public transit near the facility.

Accessibility and Equal Opportunity

The organization is committed to an inclusive, accessible, and respectful workplace. Applicants with disabilities are welcome, and accommodations are available upon request during all stages of the hiring process. If accommodation is needed for recruitment or interview participation, contact [email protected].

Additional Notes

Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

Compensation

Annual pay is $42,000.
