Laboratory Assistant - Fire Assay / Sample Preparation

Role Overview

We are looking for a Laboratory Technician to join SGS New Zealand in Waihi, Waikato. This role centres on Fire Assay work along with the preparation and analysis of geochemical and metallurgical samples. You will be part of a business recognised globally for integrity, professionalism, and a strong focus on quality and safety.

Key Duties

• Prepare and analyse geochemical as well as metallurgical samples.
• Support and perform Fire Assay procedures.
• Complete assigned work accurately, efficiently, and in line with client specifications.
• Follow standard operating procedures to ensure consistent quality.
• Work toward daily sample processing goals.
• Look after equipment, maintain work areas, and keep records up to date.
• Operate in accordance with strict health and safety requirements.

Working Pattern

The role follows a rotating shift schedule made up of 12-hour shifts, with 4 days worked followed by 4 days off. Usual working hours are 05:30 to 17:30.
