Job description

About Driva

Driva is an Australian fintech focused on making vehicle finance simple, fast, and fully automated. The company helps customers secure the best loan match by comparing personalised offers from a panel of lenders in one place, so they can make informed choices with confidence.

The workplace values imagination, teamwork, and ongoing growth. It is suited to people who want to help bring innovative finance products to a large customer base.

The role

Design is central to the way customers interact with Driva and the way the company works internally. From customer platforms and marketing journeys to internal systems and operational processes, design influences growth, efficiency, and trust. Reporting to the Head of Product, you will be the most senior designer in the organisation and will set the benchmark for design quality while shaping its impact across product, growth, and the wider business.

In this position, your work will vary from improving key customer journeys and defining internal workflows to producing campaign assets and contributing to the evolution of the design system. The role suits someone who is comfortable working through uncertainty, can move between strategic thinking and hands-on design delivery, and wants their work to have clear influence across the business.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and improve design work across customer experiences, internal tools, growth initiatives, brand touchpoints, and new product concepts.
  • Set and promote design principles, workflows, and operating practices that help teams work more efficiently and deliver stronger outcomes.
  • Create clear, intuitive, and high-quality experiences that make complex financial products easier to understand and use.
  • Work with product and marketing teams across a broad mix of touchpoints, including digital product experiences and both physical and digital marketing materials.
  • Partner with Product Managers and other stakeholders to frame problems, support discovery, and identify the most valuable opportunities to pursue.
  • Carry out customer research, usability testing, journey mapping, and competitor reviews to surface insights and validate proposed solutions.
  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, user flows, polished interface designs, and supporting design assets.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers during delivery to ensure the final experience meets a high standard.
  • Use customer feedback, data, and experimentation to improve product and design outcomes over time.
  • Apply AI tools and new technologies to speed up research, ideation, prototyping, content creation, and design workflows while improving both speed and quality.

What Driva is looking for

The company is more interested in how you think, solve problems, and adapt than in whether you have worked in finance before. The ideal candidate brings strong product design experience, can balance strategy with execution, and is comfortable influencing across teams.

  • At least 5 years of experience in end-to-end product design for digital products.
  • Strong capability in UX, interaction design, and visual design, backed by a portfolio that shows both strategic thinking and excellent execution.
  • A strong understanding of UX best practices, accessibility standards, and current design trends.
  • The ability to form a well-reasoned point of view on quality design and explain decisions clearly so others can align behind them.
  • A systems-oriented approach, with the ability to think broadly about customer and business needs while also focusing on the details that improve the experience.
  • Comfort moving between customer-facing products, internal tools, growth work, and wider business challenges.
  • Solid research and discovery experience, with a track record of turning customer and business insights into meaningful solutions.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, including the ability to bring stakeholders with you throughout the design process.
  • Experience working closely with engineers and understanding the constraints of building user experiences.
  • Confidence using both quantitative and qualitative data to guide decisions and measure impact.
  • A strong sense of ownership, initiative, and follow-through.
  • Genuine curiosity about AI and experience using AI-enabled tools to improve workflow and results.
  • A collaborative, low-ego mindset focused on solving the right problem rather than owning the answer.
  • Experience mentoring other designers or contributing to the development of design practices.

Bonus experience

  • Prior experience in a startup or scale-up environment during a period of rapid growth.
  • Experience leading a rebrand.

Benefits

  • Hybrid working support, including travel assistance for in-office days and support for setting up a productive home workspace.
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), giving employees a share in the company and aligning growth with ownership.
  • Thank You Days, with extra leave added each year up to a maximum of 5 additional days annually.
  • 2 wellbeing days each year to support mental health and personal wellbeing.
  • A heavily discounted novated leasing package.
  • Up to 4 weeks per calendar year to work from anywhere, whether that means travelling, spending time with family, or changing your surroundings.
  • Learning and development support, including a budget and paid learning days to help accelerate career growth.
