Job Summary

This role is responsible for the on-site execution of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) works, ensuring strict adherence to design specifications, safety protocols, and project schedules. The position involves close collaboration with contractors, thorough review of project documentation, and proactive resolution of technical challenges to facilitate the successful delivery of MEP services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight for plumbing, electrification, and firefighting systems to ensure project compliance.
  • Review and offer technical guidance on project documents including tenders, specifications, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), material submittals, and shop drawings to align with design intent.
  • Examine plans and specifications against tender documents, advising on any discrepancies or potential improvements.
  • Develop detailed plans, specifications, and cost estimates for plumbing, HVAC, and general piping systems.
  • Analyze and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering issues to ensure project success.
  • Identify and address design challenges, develop work schedules, and manage multiple projects efficiently.
  • Supervise and execute all MEP works, including HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and electrical installations, prioritizing quality and safety.
  • Lead and manage MEP contractors throughout the project lifecycle, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
  • Plan, organize, review, and evaluate the work of consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Approve contractor installation method statements to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections and snagging reviews, documenting defects for contractor rectification.
  • Oversee the testing and commissioning of MEP systems according to technical specifications.
  • Ensure seamless coordination between structural, electrical, and mechanical disciplines.
  • Review and comment on contractor shop drawings, ensuring engineering coordination across disciplines.
  • Assess contractor MEP material proposals against performance requirements and advise the Project Manager on suitability.
  • Evaluate contractor-proposed subcontractors for engineering works from a technical standpoint.
  • Review and provide feedback on contractor operation and maintenance manuals for completeness and clarity.
  • Prepare draft site/engineer's instructions related to MEP services for Project Manager approval.
  • Participate in project, site progress, and technical meetings as directed.
  • Supervise MEP activity execution, ensuring adherence to approved shop drawings and specifications.
  • Offer technical advice to designers, supervisors, inspectors, and contractors on MEP system installation and maintenance.
  • Monitor site progress, manage resources (manpower and materials), and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Coordinate and resolve technical issues in collaboration with the Project Manager and Lead - MEP.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10-15 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in MEP management within the construction industry, particularly on large-scale projects and in the real estate sector.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrification, and firefighting systems.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
