Job description

Role overview

Meta is hiring a Lease Construction Manager to lead the delivery of leased data center facilities that support its global infrastructure. This position acts as the company’s main construction contact for colocation and build-to-suit data center developments, making sure landlord-led shell and core work, critical systems, and tenant improvements align with Meta’s technical requirements, timing expectations, and quality benchmarks. The role works closely with real estate, design engineering, and data center operations partners from lease signing through facility acceptance and handover.

What you will do

  • Represent Meta as the owner’s construction lead across leased data center projects, from the start of construction through occupancy approval and final facility acceptance.
  • Evaluate landlord construction drawings and share technical input on civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans so they match Meta’s data center standards.
  • Visit project sites regularly to follow construction progress, verify schedule performance, inspect workmanship quality, and confirm contract compliance on colocation and build-to-suit locations.
  • Oversee tenant improvement work, including coordination of Meta’s general contractors and specialty trades responsible for white space fit-out, power distribution, cooling systems, and network cabling.
  • Maintain oversight of timelines, budgets, and change order records across several leased data center projects, and provide ongoing progress updates to internal teams.
  • Drive milestone reviews, factory acceptance testing, and integrated systems testing for essential infrastructure such as UPS units, generators, switchgear, cooling equipment, and fire suppression systems.
  • Spot construction risks, delays, and quality issues early and escalate them to landlords and developers, then help resolve them through contract-based and collaborative approaches.
  • Work with commissioning teams to support the handoff from construction into commissioning and operations, ensuring systems are fully tested and properly documented before turnover.
  • Coordinate with real estate, legal, and lease administration teams to monitor landlord obligations, punch list closure, and substantial completion requirements defined in lease documents.
  • Help improve Meta’s leased data center construction standards, playbooks, and vendor qualification methods over time.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of professional experience in construction management.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical building systems.
  • Understanding of industry standards, building codes, and safety requirements, including fire protection rules.
  • Experience managing capital budgets.
  • Background in negotiating construction contracts, change orders, or vendor agreements to address scope, schedule, or budget issues.
  • Hands-on experience with Primavera P6 for construction scheduling.
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace.
  • Strong working knowledge of Bluebeam.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with BIM 360.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, and/or 12+ years of direct experience in project planning and construction management.
  • Ability to use AI tools to improve or redesign workflows and produce measurable results such as better efficiency or quality.
  • Familiarity with building environment certifications such as LEED, SITES, TRUE, or WELL.
  • Experience managing multiple large-scale construction projects, especially mission-critical or infrastructure work.
  • Experience with Unified software.
  • Experience with Procore.
  • Ability to follow responsible and ethical AI practices, including risk checks, bias reduction, and quality/accuracy review.
  • Ongoing development of AI skills such as prompt engineering, context engineering, and agent orchestration, with awareness of emerging AI technologies.
  • Construction management experience in the lease/colo market and in live-environment retrofit work.
  • Experience with connectivity cabling and data center construction.
  • Experience reviewing or editing lease agreements, amendments, and work letters.
