A well-regarded residential/boarding school in Nainital, Uttarakhand is looking for a capable and well-organized Librarian to oversee the school library and strengthen students’ reading, research, and lifelong learning habits.

This position calls for someone with solid experience in school libraries, familiarity with residential school settings, and confidence in using modern library systems and digital learning tools.

Location: Nainital, Uttarakhand

Salary: ₹35,000 to ₹40,000 per month, depending on experience.

Key responsibilities

• Handle the daily functioning of the school library.
• Classify, organize, and update books, journals, periodicals, reference material, and digital resources.
• Support students and faculty in finding and using library materials effectively.
• Encourage reading culture and self-directed learning among students.
• Build and update the library collection to support academic needs.
• Plan and run book fairs, reading initiatives, literary programs, and other library-based activities.
• Maintain circulation logs, accession records, inventories, and other library documentation.
• Ensure proper shelving, classification, and preservation of library assets.
• Operate library software, digital databases, and e-learning tools.
• Work with teachers to assist curriculum-linked research and learning.
• Prepare regular reports covering library usage, new acquisitions, and resource needs.

Requirements

• A Master of Library Science (M.Lib.) qualification is mandatory.
• At least 5 years of experience working as a Librarian in a reputed school.
• Prior experience in a residential or boarding school is preferred.
• Strong understanding of library management systems and cataloguing methods.
• Comfort with computers and library-related software.
• Good communication, coordination, and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to build a supportive and engaging environment for students.
