Job description
About the Role
Places Leisure, part of Places for People Group, is looking for a Lifeguard to join its team in Willenhall. This is a hands-on role in a lively setting, working alongside people who are focused on helping communities stay active and healthy.
The organisation is built around a social-enterprise approach, with a strong belief that people are at the centre of thriving communities. Team members are valued and supported, and the role is presented as a strong starting point for someone looking to build a career in leisure, customer-facing services, or operations.
What You'll Be Doing
- Watching over customers and fellow lifeguards using the swimming pool and associated facilities.
- Taking responsibility for health and safety across pool users while helping oversee day-to-day building operations.
- Maintaining a high level of awareness and paying close attention to detail to keep customers safe.
- Providing warm, professional, and high-quality customer service at all times.
- Keeping the facility clean and presentable whenever required.
Training and Career Development
A National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is preferred, but if you are safety-minded, a strong swimmer, and keen to develop, support may be provided to help you gain this qualification through ongoing learning and development.
Successful applicants can also access regular training and competency checks, along with opportunities for first aid at work training, swimming teacher qualifications, and apprenticeship pathways. The role can also lead to wider career options such as operational management, sales, fitness, or customer service.
What We're Looking For
- A current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is required.
- Strong awareness of safety and responsibility for pool users.
- Good observation skills and a careful, detail-focused approach.
- A friendly, professional manner with a genuine commitment to excellent customer service.
- An eye for cleanliness and the ability to keep standards high.
Benefits
- 2% bonus scheme for all colleagues.
- Full health and fitness membership for you, one nominated adult, and up to four juniors.
- Flexible working options, including part-time and shift-based arrangements.
- The option to buy extra annual leave.
- Access to ongoing personal learning and development.
- Company pension scheme.
- Cashback support for healthcare costs, with potential savings of up to £500 per year.
- Up to 50% off activities, centre shop purchases, and café items.
- Additional discounts and offers from retailers, cinemas, and more.
Safeguarding and Recruitment Checks

Recruitment follows safeguarding policies and procedures, and pre-employment checks are carried out, including DBS checks where relevant, to help maintain a safe working environment. Employees are expected to support the safeguarding culture by following policies and raising concerns where needed.
