Job description

Company Overview

Stonepillar Finance Uganda Limited is an expanding financial services provider dedicated to creating durable client relationships built on trust and dependability. Living by the principle “Built On Trust, Built To Last,” the organization delivers accessible and responsible financial solutions to individuals and businesses. Its approach is centered on openness, integrity, and customer-first service, while fostering a workplace culture that prizes professionalism, ethical behavior, and long-term growth for both clients and the business.

Role Summary

This full-time, on-site Loans Officer position is based in Kampala and focuses on originating, evaluating, and managing loans. The role requires identifying potential borrowers, presenting loan offerings clearly, and supporting applicants through each stage of the loan process. It also includes reviewing applications, collecting and checking supporting documents, carrying out credit and affordability assessments, and assembling complete loan files for underwriting and approval.

Key Duties

The Loans Officer will maintain an active client portfolio, track loan performance, follow up on repayments, and provide timely service throughout the loan journey. The position works closely with finance and underwriting teams to support adherence to internal policies, regulatory expectations, and sound risk-management practices.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have prior experience in a Loans Officer position or another credit-focused role and understand lending procedures and credit cycles. A strong grounding in finance, financial analysis, and basic accounting is important for making informed lending decisions. Candidates should be capable of supporting underwriting by assessing creditworthiness, repayment ability, and lending risk, and should have practical experience in loan origination, including prospecting, application intake, document collection, and file preparation.

Additional Requirements

The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills, including attentive listening, clear communication, and the ability to build lasting client relationships. A diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline is preferred. Familiarity with computer applications and loan management systems is essential, along with excellent accuracy in data entry and documentation. The role also calls for ethical judgment, the ability to perform under pressure, target orientation, and compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards. Knowledge of Uganda’s local financial and lending environment will be considered an advantage.
