Job description
Role overview
This position is responsible for directing and coordinating logistics activities across Saudi Arabia. The role focuses on making last-mile delivery, transportation, fleet oversight, supplier management, and vending replenishment run in a way that is efficient, scalable, and cost-conscious. The ideal candidate will combine commercial judgment with strong operational leadership, while building dependable supplier relationships and guiding logistics teams across multiple cities in a busy, fast-moving environment.
Strategy and planning
- Shape and update the KSA logistics strategy so it supports the company’s growth goals and translates them into a practical operating plan across all logistics streams.
- Own the yearly logistics plan and budget, ensuring resources are allocated to meet current requirements and future expansion.
- Spot structural inefficiencies across last-mile, mid-mile, staff transport, fleet, and vending operations, and lead cross-functional work to solve underlying causes.
- Represent KSA logistics in regional and group discussions, balancing group standards with local commercial and operational needs.
- Stay ahead of changes in technology, regulation, and market capacity so the logistics strategy can be adjusted before issues become critical.
Supplier and commercial management
- Take full responsibility for the KSA logistics supplier network, including 3PLs, last-mile couriers, employee transport providers, workshop vendors, and vending replenishment partners.
- Manage the full supplier lifecycle from sourcing and tendering through negotiation, contracting, onboarding, and renewal, with an emphasis on a consolidated and well-governed supplier base.
- Build a formal supplier performance process with regular reviews, scorecards, and escalation steps for poor performance.
- Improve commercial outcomes through renegotiation, volume consolidation, and market rate benchmarking to keep logistics pricing competitive as the business grows.
- Ensure supplier contracts are properly recorded, monitored, and renewed in advance, with terms that safeguard operational and financial interests.
Operations management
- Oversee daily logistics execution across all KSA cities so dispatch, intercity movement, and warehouse-to-hub transfers consistently meet service expectations.
- Design and govern dispatch and routing practices with supervisors and technology teams to improve efficiency, reduce exceptions, and standardize operations across locations.
- Manage fleet readiness, maintenance, and utilization so vehicles remain compliant, roadworthy, and effectively deployed across the network.
- Plan peak-season capacity early by working with suppliers, warehouse teams, and commercial stakeholders to handle demand spikes without service decline.
- Oversee vending replenishment operations, keeping routes efficient, product availability strong, and cold-chain handling intact where needed.
- Run the employee transportation program so routes remain reliable, cost-effective, and suitable for workforce needs across shifts and locations.
People and organization
- Lead, develop, and hold accountable a multi-city logistics team with clear responsibilities, performance expectations, and progression paths for supervisors and their teams.
- Assess capability gaps in the logistics structure and address them through hiring, coaching, or organizational changes where required.
- Build a shared logistics culture across KSA cities by removing silos and reinforcing standards, accountability, and pride in execution.
- Stay visible on the ground by spending time across cities, understanding frontline realities, and removing barriers that limit team performance.
- Set a regular rhythm of team reviews, operational debriefs, and cross-city communication to keep the function aligned and improving.
Governance, compliance, and risk
- Ensure all logistics activities meet KSA regulatory requirements, including driver licensing, vehicle inspection standards (MVPI), fleet insurance, and transport rules.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation for cross-border shipments, working with customs brokers and compliance teams as needed.
- Embed HSE expectations across the function, including driver safety procedures, incident reporting, and vehicle condition standards.
- Make sure logistics data covering movements, exceptions, costs, and performance is captured correctly and shared with core systems such as WMS, TMS, Finance, and BI in a timely manner.
- Identify operational and commercial risks early and keep contingency plans ready to protect service continuity.
Requirements
The successful candidate should bring 8–12 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, with at least 5 years gained in KSA or the GCC. Experience leading multi-city logistics operations in Saudi Arabia is essential. A strong background in supplier management, 3PL coordination, tenders, and commercial negotiation is required, along with experience managing logistics budgets and cost-reduction initiatives. Knowledge of fleet operations, transportation management, and logistics technology platforms is also important. Experience in e-commerce, retail, FMCG, perishables, or cold-chain environments would be an advantage. The role calls for strong leadership, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills. A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline is needed. Fluency in Arabic and English is required, along with a valid KSA driving licence and willingness to travel across Saudi Arabia as necessary.
Eligibility
This role is suitable for experienced logistics and supply chain professionals who meet the required seniority, language, and location criteria and are able to work onsite in Riyadh while travelling across KSA when needed.
