Role overview
St Vincent’s Health Australia is looking for a Maintenance Officer to support its Corinda Aged Care site. This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday, with the ability to take on-call shifts on weekends and after hours when needed. The position is based in Corinda and includes free parking.
The role suits a practical handyperson who can work independently and handle a wide range of maintenance tasks. The work is varied and can include planned jobs, routine upkeep, urgent call-outs, and general garden care. One day you may be carrying out painting, patching or flooring repairs; another day you may be pruning or mowing, or helping residents with items such as sensors, water pressure concerns, TV remotes, bathroom fittings, and handrails.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out routine, scheduled, ad-hoc, and urgent maintenance tasks across the aged care facility.
- Perform general handyperson work and minor repairs as required.
- Complete garden and outdoor maintenance, including pruning and mowing.
- Assist with installation and maintenance tasks such as bathroom fixtures and handrails.
- Support residents with practical equipment and room-related issues, including sensors, TV remotes, and water pressure concerns.
- Work autonomously while managing a varied workload and prioritising tasks effectively.
- Take part in the on-call roster, including weekends and after-hours coverage.
Requirements
- Trade qualifications in carpentry, painting, electrical work, or plumbing are desirable.
- Relevant hands-on experience is essential.
- Experience in aged care, health, or community settings is highly desirable.
- A current driver’s licence is required.
- Experience in a diverse working environment is needed.
- A strong customer service approach and person-centred mindset are important.
- Good planning and time management abilities are required.
- Willingness to participate in the on-call roster is necessary.
- A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) is essential.
- An NDIS Worker Screening Check is essential.
