About the role

Native Counselling Services of Alberta (NCSA) is hiring a full-time Maintenance Worker in Edmonton, Alberta for its Kisnimi Ti housing program. The position supports the upkeep and safety of transitional housing used by clients, with a focus on maintaining a healthy and secure living environment. The application closing date is July 10, 2026.

NCSA’s mission is to strengthen the resilience of Indigenous individuals and families through services rooted in interconnectedness, relationship rebuilding, reconciliation, and self-determination. The organization provides culturally grounded, holistic supports for people facing barriers while working toward overall wellness.

What you will do

  • Keep NCSA transitional housing aligned with current building standards and ongoing housing needs.
  • Carry out routine building repairs and maintenance so the property remains compliant with government standards.
  • Inspect the premises for safety issues, manage inventory, and complete repairs promptly.

What the organization is looking for

  • Strong familiarity with Indigenous communities, cultures, healing practices, and language.
  • Clear understanding of historic trauma and the effects of colonization on Indigenous peoples.
  • Substantial hands-on experience in building maintenance.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform routine manual work indoors and outdoors in changing weather.
  • Commitment to following safety rules and wearing required protective equipment such as hard hats, goggles, gloves, and safety boots.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team, with strong communication, documentation, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
  • Self-driven work style with the ability to operate with minimal supervision.
  • Customer-focused approach, strong prioritization skills, and respect for confidentiality.
  • Ability to understand and apply the NCSA Resiliency Model in day-to-day work with staff, clients, management, and the community.
  • Comfort using computers and information technology in a work setting.
  • Reliable vehicle access, a valid Alberta driver’s licence, and proof of vehicle insurance, as the vehicle must be used for work purposes.
  • Ability to provide a current criminal record check and child intervention check upon hiring.

Compensation and hiring details

The starting salary is $55,000 per year.
