Position summary
The Manager – Receivables will lead the group’s accounts receivable operations, ensuring invoices go out on time, collections are handled effectively, credit exposure is kept under control, and cash flow remains healthy. This role is central to protecting revenue, lowering credit risk, strengthening working capital, and preserving positive customer relationships.
The selected professional will manage the full receivables journey, work closely with commercial and operations teams, and contribute strategic input to lift collection outcomes, cut overdue amounts, and reinforce financial discipline.
Key responsibilities
Accounts receivable management
- Direct the full receivables process, from billing through collection and receipt application.
- Make sure customer invoices, debit notes, and credit notes are prepared and issued accurately and on schedule.
- Track outstanding customer balances and actively push collection follow-ups.
- Review and sign off on customer account reconciliations.
- Ensure customer payments are recorded and allocated correctly.
- Keep an eye on unbilled revenue and coordinate with operational teams so billing happens without delay.
Credit control and risk oversight
- Evaluate customer credit strength and propose suitable credit limits.
- Monitor credit exposure and ensure approved credit policies are followed.
- Spot possible collection risks and put mitigation actions in place.
- Assess customer payment patterns and recommend corrective measures where needed.
- Assist legal and commercial teams with recovery actions when escalation is required.
Billing and contract management
- Coordinate project billing and ensure invoices comply with milestone and billing terms.
- Review customer agreements, payment terms, and commercial clauses that affect invoicing and collection.
- Confirm that billing activities match contractual commitments and revenue recognition requirements.
- Resolve billing disputes by working with internal stakeholders to close issues quickly.
Reporting and performance management
- Prepare receivables aging reports, collection forecasts, DSO reports, and management dashboards.
- Track collection performance against targets and recommend improvements.
- Provide regular cash flow projections tied to expected customer collections.
- Study collection patterns and identify ways to improve working capital performance.
- Present receivables updates and recommendations to senior leadership.
Compliance and process improvement
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, company policies, and finance procedures.
- Support internal and external audits with supporting records and reconciliations.
- Drive ongoing improvements in receivables, billing, and collection workflows.
- Support ERP enhancements and automation efforts to improve efficiency and reporting quality.

Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a similar field is required.
- Professional credentials such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, CA, or an equivalent qualification are strongly preferred.
- At least 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in accounts receivable, credit control, or finance, including leadership responsibilities, is needed.
- Experience in contracting, engineering, telecom, technology, or project-driven organizations will be a clear advantage.
Technical skills
- Strong command of accounts receivable, collections, credit control, and cash flow management.
- Ability to read and interpret customer contracts, payment terms, and commercial clauses.
- Practical understanding of IFRS 15 and project billing concepts.
- Good grasp of revenue recognition and receivables management principles.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP platforms.
- Advanced Excel capability for reporting, analysis, and forecasting.
- Awareness of legal and contractual factors affecting collections, disputes, and recoveries.
- Exposure to reporting dashboards and business intelligence tools is beneficial.
