Role Overview
This position reports to the Operations Lead and is responsible for driving supply planning and sales & operations planning across India. The role focuses on maintaining strong service levels, efficient inventory control, and cost performance by working closely with Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, and Finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly India S&OP cycle and challenge demand and supply assumptions, analytics, and forecast inputs to improve accuracy through cross-functional collaboration.
- Own the supply-planning inputs for the S&OP process and support planning for third-party manufacturing locations, including volume planning, MOQ-based inventory management, and related administrative tasks.
- Create detailed production and capacity plans that balance service, inventory, cost, and write-off objectives.
- Act as the main supply-planning contact while partnering with factory production and procurement teams to ensure plans are executed properly.
- Manage smooth production changeovers and transitions for both existing products and new launches.
- Review raw material, packaging material, and finished goods inventory to improve working capital while protecting service levels.
- Set, implement, and periodically reassess stock policies for factories and warehouses.
- Coordinate inventory allocation and inter-warehouse transfers when there are shortages or surplus stock situations.
- Identify material shortages early and trigger procurement of raw and packaging materials to avoid sales loss.
- Support initiatives aimed at achieving zero or minimal sales loss and strong OTIF performance.
- Prepare and track supply-planning budgets and ensure cost targets are met.
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports covering forecast accuracy, run-rate, inventory health, OTIF, ageing, expiry, and service metrics.
- Collaborate with teams across Sales, Marketing, Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, and Finance to ensure alignment and flawless execution.
- Contribute to company-wide initiatives such as new product introductions, supply chain cost reduction, digitization, and process improvements.
- Use reporting, forecasting, and presentation tools such as SAP, Power BI, MS PowerPoint, and Anaplan effectively.
Required Profile
- Postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
- B.E. or B.Tech, preferably from a premier institute, or MBA from a top-tier Tier 1 institute.
- Proven experience in supply planning, inventory management, and S&OP processes.
- Practical hands-on experience with SAP modules relevant to planning and operations.
- Strong analytical ability and comfort working with data to support decisions.
- Good understanding of FMCG or processed food supply-chain operations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders.
- Composed and effective under pressure, with a calm approach in demanding situations.
- Highly detail-oriented, structured, and data-driven in day-to-day work.
- Strong skills in multitasking, prioritization, execution, and quickly adapting to new tools and systems.
Preferred Industry Background
Experience from the food industry is preferred.
