Job Overview

Journalism Science Alliance is hiring a full-time Marketing Assistant in California, United States. This role is suited to someone who is imaginative, well-organized, and comfortable supporting a range of marketing activities that build visibility, engagement, and campaign impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Help plan and roll out marketing campaigns and promotional initiatives.
  • Develop and refresh marketing collateral, presentations, and promotional copy.
  • Assist with day-to-day social media operations, content scheduling, and community interaction.
  • Carry out market research and review competitor activity.
  • Track how campaigns are performing and compile marketing reports.
  • Support the coordination of events, webinars, and other promotional programs.
  • Keep marketing records organized, including databases, customer lists, and campaign documentation.
  • Work with internal departments, vendors, and outside partners as needed.
  • Contribute to email marketing and other digital marketing efforts.
  • Handle administrative duties that keep the marketing function running smoothly.

What We’re Looking For

  • A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, or a closely related discipline.
  • Between 0 and 2 years of experience in marketing, communications, customer engagement, or a similar area.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Good planning, organization, and multitasking skills.
  • A strong eye for detail along with creative thinking.
  • Ability to perform well both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Background

  • Hands-on experience with social media channels and content management tools.
  • Exposure to email marketing platforms and core digital marketing concepts.
  • Familiarity with marketing analytics and reporting software.
  • Experience using design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Working knowledge of SEO, content marketing, and online advertising is an advantage.
