Job Description

Parsons is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Materials Inspector to join our team in Doha, Qatar. This role is crucial for supporting site supervision by conducting thorough inspections of ongoing construction activities. You will ensure strict adherence to project specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols, playing a vital part in maintaining high standards of workmanship and promptly reporting any issues to the supervisory team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine site inspections to verify that construction activities align with approved drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Monitor daily site progress and report any deviations from planned works to the Senior Works Inspector or Resident Engineer.
  • Ensure that all construction materials and workmanship meet the project's specified requirements.
  • Review and verify the compliance of material deliveries and storage with project standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors and site personnel to ensure timely completion of activities and address any technical or quality-related concerns.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate inspection records, daily reports, and other necessary project documentation.
  • Report any safety violations or hazardous conditions and ensure their prompt resolution in collaboration with the HSE team.
  • Support the resolution of non-conformances and conduct follow-up inspections after corrective actions have been implemented.
  • Participate in site meetings and inspections involving consultants, contractors, and client representatives as needed.

Requirements

  • A Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field from an accredited institution (subject to Engineer's approval).
  • A minimum of 5 years and a maximum of 10 years of relevant experience in construction inspection or supervision, with at least 5 years in a consultancy setting, preferably on infrastructure or civil projects.
  • A solid understanding of construction methodologies, technical drawings, and material specifications.
  • Familiarity with relevant local and international construction and quality assurance standards and codes.
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary on-site team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and basic reporting tools.
  • Effective communication skills in both written and spoken English.

Additional Information

  • Prior experience on large-scale infrastructure or public works projects, such as roads, utilities, or drainage systems, is desirable.
  • Knowledge of QA/QC procedures and HSE regulations within the construction industry is preferred.
  • Experience working in the Gulf region is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in the Arabic language is considered a plus.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines, even under pressure.
  • A strong commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism on site.
