About the Role
BJ’s Wholesale Club is a member-focused wholesale retailer supported by more than 30,000 team members. This position plays a hands-on role in delivering a clean, well-stocked, and high-quality meat department experience for members.
The role includes handling fresh and processed meats, supporting merchandising across related departments, and helping members with meat selection and special cuts. The position also carries a sign-on bonus of $1,000.
What You’ll Do
- Receive, rotate, cut, wrap, and merchandise fresh and processed meats, including ground meat products.
- Support merchandising for seafood, prepared foods, cheese, pre-packed deli items, rotisserie chicken, and the full-service deli.
- Help members choose meats and prepare custom meat cuts and special meat arrangements.
- Keep sanitation, food safety, and department safety standards in place at all times.
- Prepare special cuts requested by members and respond to questions about meat, poultry, and seafood.
- Cut, grind, process, weigh, package, wrap, and label meat, poultry, and seafood to company standards.
- Keep the meat case fully stocked and visually appealing with the correct inventory levels.
- Rotate products by expiration date and follow proper disposal procedures for damaged or expired items.
- Clean and sanitize equipment, display fixtures, coolers, freezers, and refrigerated cases.
- Inspect incoming meat deliveries and store products to company quality standards.
- Receive and unpack meat, poultry, seafood, prepared foods, and cheese in refrigerated storage areas.
- Follow club policies and procedures, and take on other assigned duties, including work in other departments and placing orders when needed.
- Maintain regular, predictable full attendance as a required part of the job.
What We’re Looking For
- Completion of a training program or apprenticeship is required.
- Prior experience in meat cutting is required.
- Familiarity with automatic or hand wrapping machines is preferred.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Work Conditions
This job is primarily performed while moving around on hard surfaces. It may require bending, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping. The role regularly involves lifting up to 30 pounds, and heavier or awkward items above 30 pounds may need assistance. Work takes place in a cooler environment with frequent exposure to cold, temperature changes, and loud noise, along with occasional contact with cleaning chemicals.

Compensation
The posted pay range starts at $19.75 per hour. Compensation may vary based on location, education, experience, and qualifications.
