Role overview
An expanding engineering consultancy focused on hyperscale data centres and mission-critical infrastructure is looking for an Associate Director - Mechanical to help lead its growing team. This position offers the chance to contribute to advanced data centre developments delivered across the Middle East, Europe, and Asia for international clients.
What you will do
- Take charge of the mechanical engineering discipline across several projects.
- Direct the delivery of HVAC, public health, and fire protection design work.
- Maintain high standards of technical accuracy, compliance, and quality in all deliverables.
- Promote design efficiency, engineering best practices, and value engineering improvements.
- Lead, coach, and build multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Work closely with electrical, structural, BIM, and architectural colleagues.
- Assist with planning, staffing, and meeting project deadlines.
- Provide support during site visits, inspections, and commissioning activities.
- Contribute to client discussions, proposals, and business development efforts.
What we are looking for
- At least 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
- Strong leadership background in data centre or mission-critical infrastructure projects.
- Deep knowledge of HVAC systems, thermal design, chilled water systems, and precision cooling systems.
- Familiarity with international standards such as ASHRAE, CIBSE, and NFPA.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional registration or certification such as CEng or PE is preferred.
Desirable experience
- Delivery experience on hyperscale data centre projects.
- Background in sustainable and energy-efficient design approaches.
- Ability to use advanced engineering tools such as Revit, IES, HAP, AutoCAD, and CFD.
- Comfort in client-facing leadership positions within international settings.
