About the Role
This position is for a Mechanical Engineer working on the research, planning, design, and development of mechanical products and systems, including equipment used in energy generation, transmission, and measurement.
The role is suited to early-career professionals who can apply strong theoretical knowledge, investigate technical issues, and work through solutions with guidance from senior colleagues when needed.
Purpose of the Role
The engineer will support CAE work for ORE, PD, and CT projects across global operations. The role involves preparing mechanical analysis documentation for clients and demonstrating the mechanical, rotordynamic, and structural integrity of products while ensuring alignment with industry standards, internal requirements, and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out lateral and torsional rotordynamic analysis for centrifugal pumps.
- Perform pump design calculations in line with international standards.
- Execute structural and dynamic analysis of baseplates and vertical pumps using ANSYS Workbench.
- Prepare calculation reports, submit them, and coordinate customer approval processes.
- Assist the project team in resolving technical gaps and reviewing, issuing, and tracking comments on reports and specifications.
- Recommend design changes that support acceptable rotordynamic performance and help solve complex or unusual engineering design challenges.
- Complete standard mechanical engineering calculations and analysis as part of day-to-day work.
Required Qualifications and Knowledge
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in rotating machinery industry practices and standards.
- Exposure to finite element analysis methods and engineering calculations.
- Hands-on knowledge of rotor dynamics and ANSYS-based FEA.
- Strong grasp of structural mechanics basics and vibration fundamentals.
- Working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD tools and PLM systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of industry codes and standards such as ASME, EN, and API.
