About the role
Vertiv is seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters for its Letterkenny manufacturing site in County Donegal. The position is hands-on and focused on the mechanical assembly of electrical switchgear and electromechanical systems. The company operates across global manufacturing locations and brings more than 30 years of experience in integrated power solutions, technical services, project delivery, and customer support.
What you will do
- Carry out mechanical fitting and assembly work for electrical switchgear and electromechanical equipment.
- Use engineering drawings, manuals, and other technical documents to complete builds accurately.
- Assemble, fit, and build parts for both new and repeat product runs.
- Maintain consistently high standards of craftsmanship, accuracy, and build quality.
- Spot defective or non-compliant parts and escalate them appropriately.
- Prepare MTOs and assist with ordering materials for assigned work.
- Support prototype and development assemblies.
- Keep the work area tidy, safe, and well organised.
- Be prepared to work flexibly, including overtime and site support when required.
- Take on other tasks as needed to help the business meet its goals.
What we are looking for
- Solid background as a Mechanical Fitter or Assembler in manufacturing or engineering.
- Ability to understand and work from engineering drawings and specifications.
- Practical experience with hand tools and workshop equipment such as punches, saws, benders, and torque tools.
- Capacity to work on your own with limited supervision.
- Strong focus on quality standards and safe working practices.
- Experience in switchgear manufacture or a similar setting is preferred.
- Previous field service or on-site installation experience is an advantage.
- Awareness of risk assessments and method statements is desirable.
