Role Overview
Bureau Veritas is seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector to support oil and gas projects in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on inspection and monitoring of mechanical works, with particular attention to rotating machinery, static equipment, and site compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out site inspection and monitoring for mechanical activities involving rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, and related machinery.
- Inspect static mechanical equipment including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, and boilers.
- Confirm that equipment installation and alignment meet manufacturer requirements and project procedures, including shaft alignment, grouting, and soft foot checks.
- Observe and verify equipment testing activities such as hydrostatic testing, pneumatic testing, mechanical run tests, and alignment inspections.
- Oversee welding, fabrication, assembly, and erection work for mechanical systems to ensure alignment with WPS, PQR, and project specifications.
- Review material certificates, inspection and test reports, and other quality records in line with inspection and test plans.
- Prepare clear technical reports and communicate findings in written and spoken English.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 10 years of experience in oil and gas field projects.
- Prior experience in work related to rotating equipment and machinery, including pumps, turbines, compressors, and engines.
- Background as a Site TPI for mechanical inspection and monitoring activities.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, isometrics, datasheets, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
- Working knowledge of international mechanical standards such as ASME, API, ASTM, and BS.
- Good written and spoken English, with the ability to draft technical reports.
- Computer-literate and comfortable using standard office tools.
- Valid UAE driving licence.
