The Opportunity

Join Aotearoa New Zealand's leading media ecosystem as a Media Strategist – Digital. You will be instrumental in guiding how brands engage with audiences across NZME's premier digital platforms, including nzherald.co.nz and iHeartRadio. Reporting to the Commercial Digital Lead and collaborating with the Planning team, your primary function will be to translate client and commercial objectives into effective, audience-centric digital media strategies. This role emphasizes planning, optimization, and performance, ensuring campaigns not only launch but also achieve their intended results. It's a dynamic, hands-on position where strategic insight directly impacts revenue generation and campaign success.

How You’ll Do It

Your responsibilities will include developing and executing digital-first media plans that align client objectives with NZME's products, audience data, and available inventory. You will work closely with Commercial, Pricing, Digital Ad Operations, and Insights teams to manage inventory, support yield optimization efforts, and ensure campaigns are fine-tuned for peak performance from initial briefing through to final reporting. A key part of your role will involve analyzing campaign data, transforming performance insights into actionable recommendations for optimization and future planning, and delivering timely, accurate reports. As a vital digital advisor to the sales team, you will advocate for NZME's digital offerings, support revenue-driving initiatives, and equip teams with necessary tools, templates, and best practices for planning.

Furthermore, you will stay abreast of market trends, competitor activities, and evolving audience behaviors to identify new digital opportunities and contribute to go-to-market strategies that foster sustained digital revenue growth.

About You

We are looking for a candidate who is commercially astute, prioritizes the audience, and is meticulous in their work, possessing a genuine enthusiasm for digital media. You thrive at the intersection of strategy, data, and execution, taking pride in crafting well-planned, optimized, and continuously improving campaigns. You should have over 3 years of experience in media planning, either in digital or multi-channel environments, with a solid grasp of digital advertising principles, inventory management, and campaign optimization techniques. Proficiency in using data and analytics to derive clear, compelling recommendations and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders is essential. We value proactive, collaborative, and solution-oriented individuals who are comfortable presenting ideas, supporting sales discussions, and operating effectively in a fast-paced commercial setting.
