Job description

Role overview

Mirage is building an AI-first video creation platform that uses natural language to coordinate production and editing. Its systems combine contextual understanding with creative decision-making so experienced teams can work faster and video creation becomes more accessible to everyone.

The team works on some of the hardest open problems in generative media, with a strong focus on foundational research and product impact. This is an early-stage opportunity to influence the direction of tools that may shape the future of creative work.

The role is based in New York City at the Union Square office, and the position is fully in person.

What you will do

  • Build complete agentic systems for creative workflows from end to end.
  • Create and refine methods for training and adapting large language models that power these agents.
  • Develop new datasets, objectives, and fine-tuning approaches to improve reliability and agent behavior.
  • Work on multimodal reasoning and structured generation for more precise creative control.
  • Run controlled experiments to measure and improve performance in realistic tasks.
  • Design evaluation methods for agent-driven workflows used in video understanding and editing.
  • Investigate where the agent loop breaks down, including planning, tool use, and execution, and improve weak points.

What the team is looking for

  • A BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a closely related discipline.
  • Proven experience building ML systems in production or designing agent pipelines.
  • Strong command of transformers and current LLM methods.
  • Hands-on exposure to fine-tuning, alignment, or post-training, especially for structured outputs or tool use.
  • Ability to work across the stack, from model experiments to deployed systems.
  • Strong experimental discipline and practical judgment about what makes agents effective.

Compensation and benefits

The compensation band for this role is $175,000 to $275,000 per year, and equity is offered. Final starting pay will depend on skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions, and the range may change in the future.

Full-time employees can access a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with employer match, commuter benefits, catered lunch on multiple days each week, a dinner stipend for late nights, a Grubhub subscription, health and wellness perks, several team offsites each year, monthly team events, and a generous PTO policy.

Additional information

All roles require onsite attendance at the New York City headquarters in Union Square.

The employer provides equal opportunity in hiring and employment and does not discriminate or harass based on race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other legally protected characteristic.

Benefits listed above apply only to full-time employees.
