Role Overview
As a Mobile Cleaner, you will support cleaning operations within an assigned area, with a strong focus on quality control, health and safety, and delivering service that meets or exceeds client expectations. You will report to a Manager or Supervisor and carry out tasks as required based on operational needs.
Key Duties
- Sweep, scrub, and vacuum floors to keep work areas clean.
- Wet mop, dry mop, wash, scrub, and polish hard surface floors using handheld, walk-behind, or automatic equipment where appropriate.
- Strip, seal, finish, and polish hard floors manually or with powered machines.
- Clean washroom floors and other hard-surface areas that require stripping and finishing.
- Move garbage from collection points to bins or compactors.
- Relocate maintenance equipment and machinery between floors or job sites when needed.
- Clean, store, and care for equipment and machinery used in the work.
- Clean glass surfaces using ladders, scaffolding, or other extension tools when necessary.
- Clean stairwells and elevator cabins that require ladder access.
- Load and unload supplies and replenish cleaning chemicals and solutions.
- Use chemical cleaners and power equipment according to procedures to avoid damage to floors and fixtures.
- Mix water and detergents to prepare cleaning solutions based on specified instructions.
- Steam clean or shampoo carpets when required.
- Inform management when major building system repairs or additions are needed.
- Remove snow and debris from sidewalks, driveways, or parking areas using appropriate snow-removal tools or chemicals.
- Carry out other duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- Background in cleaning, housekeeping, or maintenance work within an institutional setting.
- Hands-on experience with floor care machines, cleaning tools, materials, and solutions.
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable WHMIS requirements.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy items and safely climb ladders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with staff, clients, and the public.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, assigned shifts, and across multiple locations.
- Ability to follow spoken and written directions and maintain both manual and electronic records.
- Must satisfy security clearance requirements where applicable.
- Valid Class G driver’s license is required.
Additional Information
This is a regular full-time role located in Burlington, Ontario. The pay range for the position is CAD 18.99 to CAD 22.34 per hour, with the starting rate determined by the selected candidate’s experience, education, performance, and overall fit for the role.
