About the Role
Ledcor Technical Services is seeking an experienced Multi-Utility Locator to join their team in the London, Ontario area. This role is ideal for a self-motivated individual with a strong background in telecommunications and utility locating, who takes pride in accurately identifying underground facilities. You will be responsible for interpreting job tickets, operating locating equipment, and ensuring the safety of underground infrastructure. The position requires independent work, managing a demanding workload, and adhering to project deadlines in a fast-paced, field-based setting.
Responsibilities
- Accurately interpret job order tickets to identify underground utilities.
- Read and understand blueprints, maps, and construction drawings to guide locating efforts.
- Plan efficient travel routes for urban and rural site visits.
- Utilize testing and locating equipment to precisely pinpoint underground utility lines.
- Monitor excavation activities to prevent damage to underground facilities.
- Generate drawings and documentation using Visio.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, productivity, and safety while working autonomously.
- Ensure timely completion of projects within a dynamic field environment.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in locating underground utilities across various types (telecommunications, hydro, gas, water, etc.).
- Possession of the ORCGA Damage Prevention Technician (DPT) certification is mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional organizational skills, self-motivation, and the capacity to prioritize tasks effectively.
- A keen eye for detail, with a strong commitment to accuracy and safety protocols.
- Proficiency in using multiple computer applications and digital tools.
- A valid Full G driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Capability to maintain company vehicles, testing equipment, and tools in optimal condition.
