About the Role
Ledcor Technical Services is seeking an experienced Utility Locator to join their team in the London area, Ontario. This role is ideal for a professional who excels at accurately identifying underground facilities, thrives in independent work environments, and can effectively manage a demanding workload while adhering to project deadlines. Responsibilities
- Interpret work orders to accurately locate underground utilities.
- Analyze and understand blueprints, maps, and construction drawings.
- Plan efficient travel routes for urban and rural job sites.
- Utilize specialized equipment to detect and pinpoint underground utility lines.
- Oversee equipment like excavators to prevent damage to underground facilities.
- Develop drawings and diagrams using Visio software.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, productivity, and safety while working autonomously.
- Ensure timely completion of projects in a dynamic, field-based setting.
- Undertake other assigned duties as required.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in locating underground utilities across various types.
- Proven experience with telecommunications, hydro, gas, water, and other utility infrastructure.
- Possession of the ORCGA Damage Prevention Technician (DPT) certification.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional organizational skills, self-motivation, and effective workload prioritization.
- Keen attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and safety protocols.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and a collaborative team attitude.
- Proficiency with computers and various digital tools.
- A valid Full G driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Capability to maintain company vehicles, testing equipment, and tools in optimal condition.
Work Conditions
- Company-provided vehicle and essential tools.
- Requirement for travel, which may include occasional overnight stays and out-of-town assignments or training.
- Preference will be given to candidates residing locally.
- Work environments encompass residential, commercial, industrial, and rural settings, with varied terrain.
- Physical ability to perform job duties, including prolonged sitting, standing, bending, and working outdoors in diverse weather conditions.
- Standard work schedule is Monday to Friday, with potential for occasional Saturday work.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly wage range for this position is $26.10 to $38.47. Actual pay will be determined by factors such as trade certification, apprenticeship level, industry experience, and work location. Remote or site-based employees may be eligible for additional incentives like travel and accommodation allowances. A competitive retirement package is also provided, administered through the Union according to the collective agreement.
