Night Porter

Role overview

Dalata Hotel Group is seeking a Night Porter to support overnight hotel operations in Sligo. The role includes guest-facing service, housekeeping support, safety awareness, and preparation of key public areas to maintain a welcoming and orderly hotel environment. Training is provided through Dalata Academy, and the company emphasizes internal progression and career development.

Key duties

• Handle guest check-ins and check-outs when needed, and help guests with luggage and porterage requests.
• Keep hotel areas clean and presentable, including the lobby, back office, stairways, restaurant floor, bar floor, public spaces, staff areas, and meeting room floors.
• Carry out additional cleaning tasks assigned by the manager on duty and complete the nightly checklist, which may include preparing function rooms and the breakfast area.
• Maintain the front entrance and the exterior of the property so they remain tidy at all times, including bin emptying and litter removal.
• Understand and follow the hotel’s fire procedures to help protect guests and staff.
• Set up meeting rooms as required.

Skills and experience needed

Applicants should have prior customer service experience, strong spoken English, good organization, the ability to work effectively in a busy setting, and a cooperative approach as a team member.
