The company is seeking a candidate who not only matches the stated requirements, but also shows the ability to learn quickly, grow with the organization, and work with an ownership mindset. A strong fit for this role will demonstrate Amazon’s leadership principle of being curious and eager to learn.

What this role calls for

  • Strong leadership capability with proven people-management ability.
  • Comfort working through changing priorities and uncertain situations.
  • Clear verbal communication, active listening, and the ability to align teams on what needs to be done.
  • Confidence in setting realistic goals and stretching timelines, then tracking progress to deliver results.
  • Customer-first thinking with an ability to build team understanding of customer expectations and experience.
  • A high sense of ownership with follow-through on solutions and service delivery.
  • Strong analytical judgment to interpret information, validate key facts, compare options, and weigh risks and benefits.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, build, and own operational processes from fulfillment centers through sortation hubs and into the last-mile delivery network.
  • Recruit, train, and develop a motivated sort-hub workforce, with support from HR and training teams, to meet city-level operating needs while maintaining Amazon’s standards for quality and productivity.
  • Plan for sufficient capacity at sites to handle peak-period demand effectively.
  • Work closely with Finance, Delivery Stations, Fulfillment Centers, and Projects teams on city operations matters.
  • Review team performance, carry out appraisals, and coach team members to run efficient operations.
  • Continuously refine processes to improve standards, remove waste, and eliminate unnecessary work.
  • Study reports and operational data to find bottlenecks and raise overall performance.

What a typical day may include

  • Leading regional initiatives tied to safety, engagement, network speed, and cost optimization.
  • Running daily stand-ups, weekly business reviews, monthly business reviews, and peak-readiness discussions.
  • Using data analysis to pinpoint bottlenecks and applying improvement methods such as Kaizen and continuous improvement.
  • Finalizing the site labor plan so that cost is optimized without compromising performance standards or associate experience.
  • Coaching operations managers, challenging existing methods, and promoting a continuous-improvement culture to reduce waste.
  • Partnering with site leaders, regional leaders, and central teams to compare best practices and deploy effective floor-level improvements.

Experience and education

The role requires at least 4 years of experience in operations, logistics, or supply chain. A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification is required, or alternatively 2+ years of equivalent experience. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is also listed as a preferred qualification.
