About the role

The House Hotel in Galway is looking to add a part-time Receptionist to its front desk team. The property is known for stylish, comfortable accommodation and a strong focus on guest experience. It is located in Galway city, around 5 minutes from Eyre Square, in the Latin Quarter.

This role suits someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced hospitality setting, takes pride in service, and can represent the hotel in a warm and professional way.

Key responsibilities

  • Welcome arriving guests with a friendly, professional first impression.
  • Manage check-ins and check-outs accurately using the Opera Reservation System and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Share information about the hotel’s services and facilities with guests when needed.
  • Handle complaints courteously and escalate concerns to management where appropriate.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests, questions, and suggestions.
  • Make sure guest needs are met throughout their stay.
  • Promote hotel facilities and look for appropriate upsell opportunities.
  • Answer calls in a polite and helpful manner, direct them to the correct extension, and record messages clearly.
  • Ensure billing is completed correctly and in line with hotel procedures.
  • Learn and stay up to date with all reception processes.
  • Follow all hotel policies relating to customer care, health and safety, fire safety, and security.
  • Support other hotel departments when needed.
  • Stay organised, manage multiple tasks well, and prioritise effectively.
  • Build knowledge of the local area so guests can be given useful advice and recommendations.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in hospitality.
  • Strong people skills and a professional manner.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Working knowledge of Opera PMS is preferred.
  • Comfortable using the internet, Excel, and Word.
