Job description

About the Role

Munson Healthcare is the largest healthcare system in northern Michigan, operating eight recognized community hospitals and serving more than 500,000 residents across 29 counties. This role is part of a mission-driven team that supports patients in a setting known for scenic lakes, trails, downtowns, arts, and outdoor recreation.

The organization values excellence, teamwork, positivity, creativity, and a strong focus on creating outstanding experiences for both patients and colleagues.

What You’ll Do

  • Welcome patients, relatives, and visitors, then guide them to testing and surgery locations while assisting with mobility and transportation needs when required.
  • Collect and confirm patient details and enter registration data quickly and accurately.
  • Communicate with patients in a friendly, respectful, and reassuring way so they understand procedures, expectations, and the hospital setting.
  • Handle confidential medical information carefully and maintain a tidy, well-stocked work area.
  • Check department messages and emails every day and implement updates to information-collection processes as soon as they are communicated.
  • Support onboarding by serving as a mentor for new hires and providing the training needed for the role.
  • Carry out additional tasks assigned by the Patient Access Services leadership team.

What We’re Looking For

  • An associate degree, two years of formal education, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 2 years of work experience in customer service, healthcare, or a business-related environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities with a patient-first approach.
  • Comfort with handling sensitive information and working accurately in a registration setting.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM.

Benefits and Growth

  • Tuition reimbursement plus access to in-person and online learning resources and a career hub.
  • Comprehensive benefits, paid holidays, and generous paid time off.
  • Employee discounts and free one-on-one retirement counseling.
  • Access to a wellness platform for employees and their families, along with support for personal or family challenges.
  • Opportunities to contribute ideas through improvement huddles, employee surveys, and town hall meetings.

Health and Compliance Requirements

All employees must show proof of vaccination or laboratory-confirmed immunity for measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella. A flu vaccine is also required during the flu season in the year of hire and every year after, unless an approved medical or religious exemption is granted.
