About the Opportunity

Consolidated Services Inc., a member of the PCL family of companies, is looking for a Payroll Coordinator to join its corporate team in Edmonton, Alberta. The organization is employee-owned and emphasizes long-term growth, shared success, and a strong sense of purpose in the work it delivers.

In this role, you will oversee the complete payroll cycle for hourly craft employees across multiple provinces, including Quebec. The position calls for accuracy, attention to compliance, and responsive support for internal stakeholders across the districts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep employee payroll records accurate, complete, and up to date.
  • Partner with the relevant teams to handle payroll actions for new hires, employee updates, terminations, and transfers involving hourly craft employees.
  • Run weekly in-house payroll processing for multi-provincial payroll, including Quebec.
  • Apply government regulations and collective agreements to ensure proper treatment of earnings, deductions, benefits, taxes, and required documentation.
  • Maintain payroll system setup for the districts when needed.
  • Review, balance, and submit company and union-related benefit liabilities, including WCB, CRA, and provincial health obligations.
  • Prepare and reconcile year-end payroll documents such as T4s, Relevé 1s, and T2200s for hourly craft employees.
  • Build and sustain strong service-oriented relationships with stakeholders.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of payroll administration experience in a unionized environment.
  • Working knowledge of payroll procedures, statutory requirements, and labour agreements.
  • Ability to interpret collective bargaining agreements and apply them correctly in payroll processing.
  • Experience preparing, reconciling, and submitting monthly, quarterly, and annual remittances for internal and external reporting.
  • Strong accuracy, troubleshooting ability, and attention to detail.
  • Comfort working collaboratively in a busy, fast-moving environment.
  • Ability to stay effective under tight deadlines and frequent change.
  • Discretion and sound judgment when working with confidential information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and automated payroll systems.
  • Working toward PCP certification, or having completed it, is preferred.
  • Exposure to JDE or Oracle payroll platforms is an advantage.
