Job description

About Nitra

Nitra is working to make healthcare more efficient by building fintech and software products that help doctors run their practices better and spend more time on the work that matters most. The company operates with speed, high standards, ownership, and strong accountability, while also emphasizing trust, respect, and shared success. It is growing quickly with the ambition to become a unicorn and is backed by experienced founders, senior operators, and leading investors.

Nitra follows a hybrid schedule: team members are in the office four days each week, with Wednesdays set aside for working from home.

Role Overview

Nitra is hiring a People Operations Associate to join as a founding member of the People function. This role will help build the HR operating system for a fast-scaling Series B company, creating the processes, programs, and infrastructure needed to hire, support, develop, reward, and retain talent without slowing the business down.

You will own key People operations work across performance management, compensation support, onboarding and offboarding, compliance, reporting, and manager enablement. The role calls for a highly detail-oriented operator who can build systems from scratch and partner directly with leadership across the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and manage the core People Operations foundation, including HRIS administration, employee data, policy documentation, and compliant workflows.
  • Design, implement, and run performance review processes, including calibration, manager support, cadence planning, and the tools behind the cycle.
  • Support compensation work by helping with benchmarking, leveling, salary bands, and the operational pieces tied to merit, promotion, and equity changes.
  • Build a strong onboarding experience so new hires can ramp quickly, understand expectations, and start successfully from day one.
  • Handle offboarding in a careful, compliant, and respectful way that protects the company and treats departing employees well.
  • Develop and coordinate manager and leadership enablement programs, from new-manager training to ongoing development initiatives.
  • Maintain HR compliance across federal, state, and multi-state requirements, including leave, worker classification, and records management.
  • Create people analytics, dashboards, and reporting that give leadership visibility into headcount, retention, performance, and organizational health.
  • Act as a trusted contact for employees and managers by handling sensitive People matters with discretion, sound judgment, and care.
  • Work closely with leadership, recruiting, finance, and operations so People programs align with how the business actually operates.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in People Operations, HR, or a similar operations role, preferably in a startup or high-growth environment.
  • Proven ability to build processes and operating infrastructure from the ground up.
  • Practical experience with HRIS administration, performance cycles, onboarding, offboarding, and compliance work.
  • Comfort working with data, including compensation benchmarks, headcount metrics, and other people analytics, and translating them into recommendations.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. employment law and HR compliance, including multi-state considerations.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary for this full-time role is $85,000 to $120,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Final compensation depends on location, experience, skills, and relevant education or training. The listed pay range reflects base salary only.

  • Equity participation so employees share in company success.
  • Competitive salary aligned to experience and contribution.
  • Health coverage options including medical, vision, and dental.
  • Employer 401(k) match for retirement support.
