Role overview

Enable Ireland is hiring Basic Grade Physiotherapists for its teams in Wicklow. This is a permanent position offering 35 hours per week.

The salary range for this role is €42,384 to €61,945 per annum, pro rata, with long service increments applicable. The pay scale is also due to increase in 2026 in line with the recent WRC agreement on improved pay adjustments for Section 39 organisations. Annual leave entitlement is 32 days per year.

Role purpose

The post sits within Enable Ireland’s children’s services, delivered through Children’s Disability Network Teams under the national Progressing Disabilities Services model. The successful candidate will provide physiotherapy support to children and young people aged 0 to 18 years and their families within an interdisciplinary service model. Work will include assessment, intervention, clinical supervision, and ongoing service development, delivered in a family-centred way across clinics, preschools, schools, children’s homes, and community settings.

The full duties are outlined in the job description. In summary, the role involves delivering physiotherapy services within a multidisciplinary framework and contributing to assessment, intervention, supervision, and service development for children with complex disability-related needs.

Essential criteria

  • You must be registered, or eligible for registration, on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU.
  • You must have the knowledge, ability, and professional suitability needed to carry out the responsibilities of the post effectively.
  • Proof of statutory registration on the CORU Physiotherapists Register must be provided before an employment contract can be issued.
  • You must be legally eligible to work in the State.
  • On appointment, you are required to keep your CORU registration active each year.
  • You must confirm your annual CORU registration to Enable Ireland.

Desirable experience

  • Previous postgraduate experience working as a physiotherapist.
  • Experience contributing to interdisciplinary team-based care.
  • Experience supporting children with disabilities and their families.
  • Postgraduate training relevant to paediatric disability services, such as Hanen, Lamh, PECS, ADOS, or assistive technology training.
  • Experience using assistive technology.
  • Postgraduate experience in a public sector health service.
  • Experience on a Children’s Disability Network Team or related placement.
  • Voluntary experience with children or people with disabilities.

Additional information

Candidates who applied for a staff grade physiotherapist role with Enable Ireland in the past 12 months and were not successful should not apply again at this time.

Applicants who are expected to become professionally registered in the coming months may also be considered. If a candidate is shortlisted for appointment before full registration is complete, they may initially be offered an assistant grade post.
