Job description

About the role

Autobrains Technologies is hiring an engineer to work on the planner stack, with a focus on the software logic that decides and coordinates vehicle maneuvers. This position is deeply technical, but it also stays connected to real-world testing: the engineer will see code running on an actual car, participate in daily test drives, and remain informed about software changes being rolled out across the organization. A key part of the job is to observe how updates affect performance, including both improvements and regressions.

The team is looking for an early-career engineer who is enthusiastic about robotics and autonomous driving. The ideal candidate is curious, proactive, comfortable working independently, and motivated by solving challenging engineering problems in a fast-moving startup environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build and refine the planner stack that determines how the vehicle moves.
  • Track new software releases across the company and stay aligned with changes affecting the system.
  • Take part in daily test drives and watch for performance gains or regressions.
  • Join on-road testing sessions and support validation work on the real vehicle.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in engineering or a STEM discipline such as electrical engineering, machine learning/deep learning, robotics, or a related area.
  • Background in robotics, autonomous driving, or control engineering.
  • Practical experience with machine learning.
  • Programming ability.
  • Hands-on experience using Linux.
  • Strong curiosity, self-direction, and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license for occasional test drives.
  • Preferred: experience with Docker.
  • Preferred: experience with ROS.

Additional information

This role is based in Munich, Bavaria, Germany and is an onsite full-time position. The work involves direct interaction with vehicle testing and daily software releases, so the engineer is expected to stay close to the operational side of development.
