Role Overview
The Plant Manager will provide overall direction for a growing metals manufacturing site running on three shifts in Liberty, Kentucky. Reporting to the Chief Manufacturing Officer, this leader will be accountable for plant performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee engagement. The position calls for both strategic thinking and hands-on plant leadership to support efficient operations, workforce development, and long-term growth.
Operational Leadership
- Oversee all core plant functions, including production, maintenance, quality, shipping, and safety.
- Manage a three-shift operation so that standards and expectations remain steady across every shift.
- Create and execute operating plans that improve productivity, efficiency, and support business growth.
- Track key metrics such as safety, scrap rates, downtime, labor efficiency, and on-time delivery.
Safety and Compliance
- Promote a workplace culture that puts safety first in every area of the facility.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA requirements and internal safety policies.
- Guide safety programs and improvement efforts aimed at lowering workplace incidents.
Team Leadership
- Coach, lead, and develop supervisors, managers, and hourly team members.
- Foster accountability, collaboration, and high engagement across the workforce.
- Coordinate with Human Resources on recruitment, staffing plans, employee relations, and training.
- Ensure strong leadership presence and communication across all shifts.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement efforts to eliminate waste and raise efficiency.
- Spot opportunities to strengthen production flow, quality systems, and overall workflow.
- Drive structured problem-solving to resolve operational issues.
Quality and Customer Focus
- Make sure finished products meet quality expectations and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with quality teams to fix defects, implement corrective actions, and improve output quality.
Financial Management
- Oversee plant budgets, labor spending, and operating expenses.
- Identify cost-reduction opportunities without sacrificing quality or delivery performance.
- Support capital planning and equipment investment decisions that enable growth.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Work with engineering, supply chain, and leadership teams to meet production targets and customer demand.
- Support new product introductions, process enhancements, and expansion of plant capabilities.
Qualifications
Education: A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
Experience: Candidates should bring 8–10+ years of manufacturing leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a plant or senior operations leadership position. Background in metals manufacturing, machining, fabrication, or other heavy industrial settings is strongly preferred, along with experience leading multi-shift operations.
Skills and Competencies: Strong people leadership, a hands-on approach in a fast-moving manufacturing environment, knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement, solid problem-solving and decision-making ability, and excellent communication with leadership presence are all important for success in this role.
