Where you'll work
Job description
Role overview
Polypipe is looking for a seasoned, practical Plant Manager to take charge of a major manufacturing site. This leadership position sits at the centre of a busy, high-output operation where safety, reliability, and performance are critical.
You will own the site’s day-to-day and long-term operational performance end to end. That includes meeting production goals, keeping standards high across safety and quality, and improving efficiency throughout a fast-moving manufacturing environment. The role also calls for strong leadership of the operational team, disciplined shift routines, and a constant focus on boosting productivity and reducing waste.
This opportunity suits someone who is comfortable in continuous manufacturing settings and has a proven record of succeeding in 24/7 production operations.
Key responsibilities
- Direct all plant activity across a 3-shift, 7-day operating pattern.
- Deliver safe, steady, and efficient output aligned to production requirements.
- Build and sustain a safety-first culture with zero harm as the guiding principle.
- Manage production planning, scheduling, and workforce deployment across shifts.
- Lead, coach, and develop shift supervisors and plant teams to perform at a high level.
- Track core operational metrics such as output, quality, downtime, and yield.
- Champion continuous improvement work, including Lean, Kaizen, waste reduction, and efficiency gains.
- Work with maintenance teams to reduce downtime and strengthen plant reliability.
- Maintain compliance with WHS, environmental, and quality obligations.
- Collaborate with supply chain, engineering, and senior leadership teams to support wider business goals.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant will bring extensive plant leadership experience in PE and/or PVC manufacturing. They should be confident running high-volume or continuous production environments and have experience leading 24/7 operations with multiple shifts.
A strong people leader is needed for this role — someone who can guide supervisors, support large teams, and make clear decisions under pressure. A hands-on working style, strong troubleshooting ability, and sound judgment are essential, along with a solid grasp of manufacturing processes, plant performance, and operational KPIs.
You should also have a history of driving continuous improvement and a clear commitment to safety, quality, and performance discipline.
Why this role stands out
Polypipe offers the chance to join a respected manufacturing company with a strong market reputation. In this position, you will have full responsibility for a significant production facility and a direct influence on performance, team culture, and improvement outcomes.
The business is also investing heavily in growth, with plans to triple its operational capacity. That means this role will play an important part in shaping people, processes, and performance as the site scales.
