Role overview
The Plant Superintendent position sits within the production organization in Selma, Alabama. This role focuses on coordinating the manufacture of company products directly and through subordinate supervisors and team leaders. Key responsibilities
- Oversee supervisors and team leaders who manage production staff.
- Provide overall direction, coordination, and performance review for the assigned units.
- Carry out supervisory duties in line with company policies and all applicable laws.
- Handle employee training, work assignment and planning, performance reviews, recognition and discipline, complaint resolution, and problem-solving.
- Work with cross-functional teams to address operational issues.
- Encourage collaboration and support strong team performance.
- Drive plant-area results across efficiency, productivity, zero rejects, on-time delivery, 5S, customer satisfaction, scrap reduction, safety, downtime reduction, deliveries, and overtime control.
- Ensure daily production and inventory targets for work in progress are met according to the production control plan.
- Coach and develop production supervisors and leaders as needed.
- Implement and monitor proven manufacturing best practices.
- Keep personnel updated on weekly production requirements.
- Follow company policies and procedures related to quality, environmental standards, and labor standards.
- Support the organization’s safety, health, and sustainability policy.
- Take part in safety, health, and sustainability training sessions and campaigns.
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree, preferably BA/BS, or an equivalent mix of education and experience is required.
- At least three years of related experience is expected.
- Basic computer literacy is necessary.
- Ability to use basic algebra and geometry concepts is required.
Preferred background
- Experience in the automotive industry is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Background in lean manufacturing is helpful but not essential.
