Overview
Queensland Government’s National Fire Ant Eradication Program is seeking a Principal Planning Supervisor to help strengthen Queensland’s fight against one of Australia’s most damaging invasive pests. This role supports a mission focused on protecting communities, homes, wildlife, and industries by improving the planning and delivery of treatment and surveillance activities.
Role Summary
In this position, you will guide a specialist team responsible for delivering operational and project planning, reporting, and process improvement work. The role is centred on making treatment and surveillance programs run more efficiently and effectively through better systems, stronger planning, and clearer reporting.
You will help shape operational plans and work packages so they align with organisational priorities, required timeframes, and quality expectations. The role also calls for strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and stakeholder engagement to support decision-making and improve program outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct a specialist team and ensure departmental policies are followed while supporting development through coaching, training, and performance management.
- Build and improve reporting tools and capabilities that support the effectiveness and efficiency of treatment and surveillance delivery.
- Prepare and share clear operational plans, standard operating procedures, briefing materials, and reports that advance program goals.
- Assess and refine internal systems and workflows so work packages are delivered to operational teams on time and to a high standard.
- Examine business and spatial data to generate practical insights that help management strengthen performance and improve operational results.
