Job description
Position Overview
The Ghana National Association of Teachers is looking for a qualified Ghanaian professional who is target-focused, strongly results-oriented, and demonstrates sound leadership and a high level of enthusiasm to serve as a Procurement Officer.
Job Purpose
The role is responsible for making sure the Association acquires goods, services, and works in a timely, transparent, and economical way, while staying aligned with procurement rules, financial controls, and the organisation’s wider goals.
Key Duties
- Create and roll out annual procurement plans based on the organisation’s needs and approved budgets.
- Prepare and issue requests for quotations, requests for proposals, and tender invitations.
- Keep procurement activities open, competitive, and fully compliant with required standards.
- Search for, assess, and prequalify suppliers and service providers.
- Prepare, examine, and oversee procurement contracts and service-level agreements.
- Make sure all procurement work complies with the Public Procurement Act, internal rules, and donor conditions where relevant.
- Keep complete and accurate records for audits and regulatory checks.
- Manage the supplier register and track vendor performance.
- Maintain procurement logs, tender files, and contract documentation.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related discipline. A professional certification such as CIP or an equivalent qualification will be an added advantage. Candidates need at least 3 to 5 years of relevant procurement experience. Working knowledge of procurement legislation and procedures in Ghana is required. Experience gained in a unionised or non-profit environment will be considered a plus.
