Role overview

This is a full-time, on-site position for a Procurement Officer in Accra. The person in this role will oversee the end-to-end buying process, from raising and checking purchase orders to identifying suppliers and ensuring goods and services are procured on time. The role also includes negotiating contracts, sustaining productive supplier partnerships, coordinating with internal teams, keeping procurement aligned with budgets and business objectives, solving supply-related issues, and following the organization’s procurement rules and procedures.

Key accountabilities

  • Prepare, review, and process purchase orders accurately.
  • Identify and evaluate suppliers to support timely and cost-effective sourcing.
  • Negotiate contracts and purchasing terms with vendors.
  • Monitor supplier performance, pricing, and market conditions to support better buying decisions.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with internal policies and procedures.
  • Help address supply chain issues that may affect operations.

Required qualifications and experience

Applicants should be comfortable working across purchasing and procurement functions, with the ability to manage purchase orders and supplier negotiations effectively. Strong analytical ability is needed to assess supplier value, pricing, and market movements. Experience in procurement processes and policy compliance is important, as is the ability to collaborate well with different teams. Familiarity with healthcare supply chain regulations and operational challenges will be considered an advantage. A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
