Job description

Role Overview

EPITEC is hiring a Product Designer for a New York, NY assignment that follows a hybrid-style onsite schedule with three days per week in the office. This is a 6+ month contract with a possibility of extension. The role is limited to W2 employment and requires an updated resume along with a portfolio link.

What You’ll Be Working On

You’ll focus primarily on improving and expanding a tokenized design system in Figma and creating a related UI component toolkit. In addition, you’ll contribute to UX and UI work across a merchant management SaaS platform and a white-label eCommerce storefront.

The team supports gift and stored value experiences for audiences ranging from SMB to enterprise. This role plays an important part in maintaining consistency, speed, and quality across several active initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and evolve the tokenized design system in Figma.
  • Build and maintain a companion front-end UI component toolkit.
  • Support design work for merchant management SaaS products and white-label eCommerce experiences.
  • Translate changing product needs into scalable and flexible interface systems.
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, and other designers to move work from concept through handoff.
  • Contribute to consistent, high-quality design across multiple parallel projects.
  • Work independently in a high-autonomy environment while managing shifting priorities.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience as a Product Designer.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, UX/UI, or a related field, or equivalent experience shown through a shareable portfolio.
  • Strong hands-on experience creating and maintaining tokenized design systems, backed by portfolio examples.
  • Experience building a front-end design system toolkit, similar to Storybook.
  • Mid-level front-end coding ability.
  • Experience designing digital products or features end to end, from discovery to delivery.
  • Direct collaboration experience with product owners and engineers.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Comfort with giving and receiving feedback.
  • Portfolio is required, and the resume must be current.
  • W2-only engagement.

Additional Information

This contract runs for 6+ months and may be extended. The pay range is $40 to $55 per hour. The ideal candidate brings a builder mindset, adapts well across projects, and is comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in startup or in-house product environments.
  • Knowledge of Claude Code.
  • Ability to use AI thoughtfully within the design workflow to improve outcomes.
  • Experience designing SaaS management platforms.
  • Experience creating eCommerce web experiences.
