Job description
About Belle
Belle is a rapidly expanding engagement company focused on transforming home healthcare, starting with foot care. The company addresses a major gap in care for more than 25 million U.S. seniors who cannot easily see or reach their feet, a challenge that contributes to over $38 billion in avoidable medical costs each year for health plans.
Belle builds and runs a network of nail technicians, referred to as Community Health Workers, who deliver in-home foot care services, including medical pedicures. Using advanced data science, Belle identifies people most likely to need support on behalf of health plans and sends services where they can have the most impact. During home visits, Community Health Workers also carry out assessments and screenings and are often the first to spot new concerns below and above the knee. When those issues appear, remote nurses help coordinate follow-up care with other providers to reduce the risk of serious and costly health events.
The company’s mission is to bring joy to healthcare. Candidates who feel connected to that mission are encouraged to apply.
Role Overview
Belle is hiring a Product Engineer who approaches work with a product mindset, not simply as someone who closes tickets. In this role, you will own features from end to end: defining the problem, designing the solution, building it, shipping it, and reviewing how it performs in practice. The team is looking for someone who cares not only about writing code, but also about why the work exists and what changes after launch.
This opportunity is well suited to a recent graduate or an early-career engineer who has already been building independently and wants to work on software that has a visible impact on patients’ lives.
What You Will Do
- Develop and deliver end-to-end features across a Ruby on Rails web application and a React Native mobile app.
- Partner directly with product, clinical operations, and care teams to translate ambiguous operational challenges into working software.
- Own features through the full lifecycle, from initial scoping through deployment and follow-up iteration.
- Use AI-assisted coding tools extensively to work faster and improve both throughput and quality.
- Create internal tools, automations, and integrations that streamline day-to-day operations.
- Analyze product and operational data to determine whether a shipped feature actually produced the desired outcome.
- Contribute to sprint planning, code reviews, testing, and release rollouts.
Requirements
- Between 0 and 2 years of professional software engineering experience; internships and substantial personal projects are considered relevant.
- Hands-on experience with React or React Native and Ruby on Rails, which form the core technology stack for this role.
- Strong SQL knowledge and comfort working with relational databases, including querying data to assess feature performance.
- Proof that you build and ship real products independently, not just coursework-based assignments.
- Comfort and fluency with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar tools, along with thoughtful opinions on how to use them effectively.
- Solid product judgment, including the ability to question whether a feature should be built and whether it succeeded after launch.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teammates.
- A proactive mindset, curiosity, and a strong bias toward action in a fast-moving environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Metabase or a comparable BI and analytics tool.
- Exposure to Inertia.js.
- Familiarity with APIs, integrations, and automation workflows.
- Interest in, or experience with, healthcare, digital health, or value-based care.
Application Request
As part of the application, submit something you have built and shipped on your own, such as a live project, GitHub repository, or a personal tool. Include a short note explaining what it does, why you created it, and how AI coding tools were used during the process. This is valued more highly than a résumé.
Benefits
- Competitive pay aligned to experience.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance.
- 401(k) retirement plan.
- Paid time off, sick leave, wellness leave, and paid holidays.
- Room for major career growth and broader responsibilities.
- The chance to help reshape an industry and protect lives.
