Job description

About SoCreative

SoCreative is a company that facilitates the creation of high-quality video, photography, and design content by connecting clients with a network of skilled creators, an in-house team, and a platform managing the entire process from brief to delivery. Established two years ago, the company is profitable, experiencing growth, and operates with a lean team of under 20 individuals across 7 countries. They collaborate with a diverse range of clients, from small businesses to enterprise brands like Google, LinkedIn, Toyota, and American Express. SoCreative offers an opportunity to influence how global brands produce creative content at scale.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a proactive Product Manager to serve as the operational core of our product team. This role involves close collaboration with our founders and engineers to translate product vision into tangible, shipped features. Key responsibilities include drafting specifications, managing sprints, maintaining team focus, and ensuring timely and scope-adherent delivery. This position is ideal for an individual driven by execution and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

You will act as the crucial operational link between the founders and the engineering team. Your daily tasks will encompass writing detailed specifications, managing the product backlog, facilitating planning sessions, and partnering with the tech lead on scope definition and trade-off analysis.

  • Specs and Tickets: Translate product direction from founders into clear, well-defined user stories, complete with acceptance criteria, edge cases, and design notes for engineers.
  • Sprint Operations: Lead sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming. Maintain a clean and prioritized backlog, monitor team velocity, identify blockers promptly, and ensure delivery stays on schedule.
  • Engineering Partnership: Collaborate closely with the engineering team on scope and trade-offs, ensuring engineers understand the 'what,' 'why,' and 'done' of their tasks.
  • Customer Research Support: Assist in maintaining close customer relationships by preparing interviews, synthesizing feedback, and integrating customer insights into the product backlog.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Define success metrics for each feature, track their performance post-release, and ensure the team is accountable for the effectiveness of delivered features.
  • Documentation and Decisions: Maintain comprehensive documentation of product decisions, specifications, and rationale to ensure knowledge is accessible beyond the founders.

What You'll Need

  • A minimum of 3 years of product management experience in a startup or scale-up environment, with a proven track record of owning the entire delivery process.
  • Demonstrated success in shipping features end-to-end, from initial concept to live deployment.
  • A detail-oriented approach with a preference for lightweight processes, proficient in using tools like Linear or Jira without imposing rigid structures on a small team.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, evidenced by clear specifications, concise Slack messages, and effective retrospective notes.
  • Comfort with direction and guidance, capable of pushing back on scope when necessary without seeking strategic ownership.
  • Technical literacy, including the ability to read technical documentation, understand engineering trade-offs, and engage in substantive discussions with engineers about feasibility and scope.
  • A calm and organized demeanor.

Nice to Haves

  • Prior experience in creative tech, SaaS, or marketplace companies.
  • Experience shipping AI-powered features and understanding associated challenges like evaluations, hallucination handling, and prompt iteration.
  • Previous experience working closely with founders and fostering a productive relationship.

This Role Suits Someone Who

  • Enjoys the operational aspects of product management, including specifications, sprints, and delivery.
  • Seeks high impact through effective execution.
  • Thrives in an environment with a clear vision and the autonomy to achieve it.
  • Communicates effectively in writing and across different time zones.
  • Is motivated by working directly with founders and achieving rapid product delivery.

If you are passionate about the craft of transforming product direction into successfully shipped work—characterized by clean specifications, efficient sprints, and punctual delivery—and desire to work closely with founders, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits

  • Compensation denominated in USD.
  • Opportunity to work from any location.
