Job description
About the company
Visa is a global payments technology company that enables transactions between consumers, merchants, financial institutions, and public-sector organizations in more than 200 countries and territories. Its mission is to make paying and getting paid easier for everyone, everywhere.
Working at Visa gives you the chance to contribute at scale, solve important problems, develop your capabilities, and see your work make a difference for people and businesses around the world.
Visa’s culture encourages people to take ownership, create momentum, and work on projects that matter locally and globally.
Role overview
This Product Manager position sits within Visa Direct’s Currencycloud product and focuses on the systems that enable global money movement. The role supports the infrastructure that helps businesses send, receive, and manage funds across borders with speed, cost efficiency, transparency, and control.
You will own a product area from end to end and work closely with engineering and cross-functional partners to determine priorities and move the roadmap forward. The role involves shaping product direction using customer insight, business objectives, market awareness, and discovery work.
You will spend time learning how customers use the product, identifying pain points, and defining improvements. You will then help design and launch features, monitor how they perform in practice, and decide next steps using data, feedback, and sound judgment.
The position calls for someone with a strong sense of ownership, initiative, and the ability to bring clarity without needing constant direction. You will report to a Product Director or Group Product Manager.
Responsibilities
- Help shape the tribe’s direction through detailed research across the market, customers, competitors, and technology landscape.
- Create a product strategy and roadmap that align with company goals and tribe priorities.
- Build support for the strategy among internal teams and key stakeholders.
- Translate strategy into a well-ordered backlog and roadmap for the team.
- Run discovery activities with clients to identify real problems, unmet needs, and future opportunities.
- Work with customers and internal colleagues to generate, test, and improve ideas for new features and products.
- Develop a strong understanding of payment flows, banking and operational processes, and end-to-end system mapping.
- Partner with internal and external teams to create and maintain clear technical documentation.
- Ensure requirements are detailed enough for sprint planning, including both functional and non-functional needs.
- Use customer insight and data to separate meaningful signals from noise and focus the team on the highest-value problems.
- Lead the full product lifecycle, from problem framing through build and launch.
- Prioritize the backlog using customer, commercial, and strategic value, even when working across more than one scrum team.
- Work closely with engineering and delivery partners to keep execution focused and moving quickly.
- Provide clear context on priorities and the reasons behind them so the team can make strong decisions.
- Collaborate with Product Marketing and go-to-market teams on positioning, launch planning, and rollout.
- Support adoption across regions, customer segments, and use cases, not just feature release.
- Track product performance after launch and use evidence to decide what to improve, expand, or discontinue.
Requirements
- 3 to 4 years of proven experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, ideally in a software-led fintech company or tech startup.
- Demonstrated ownership of a product area or major initiative from discovery through launch and iteration.
- Evidence of shipping products that delivered measurable improvements in customer or business metrics.
- Strong ability to prioritize, maintain a backlog, and make difficult trade-offs.
- Comfort working in agile environments such as Scrum or Kanban, and collaborating across one to two teams.
- Experience building product vision from customer discovery, market research, and data analysis.
- Fintech domain experience is preferred, especially in payments, FX, transaction banking, or trading.
- Experience releasing customer-facing features, measuring results, and applying learnings to future planning.
- Strong bias toward action with a history of getting things done.
- Ownership mindset and consistent follow-through with high quality standards.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and cross-functional teams without formal authority.
- Analytical, commercially aware, and able to turn insight into action.
- Comfort with questioning existing approaches and understanding how systems and processes work.
- Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Structured, detail-oriented, and able to keep sight of the bigger picture.
- Comfort operating in a scaling environment where structure may still be evolving.
Work arrangement
This is a hybrid role based in the London Paddington office. You are expected to be in the office three days each week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
