Job description

About Partly

Partly is building a global platform for replacement parts, beginning with automotive parts, with the goal of helping the world move toward a more sustainable future where anything can be repaired. The company was founded by former Rocket Lab engineers and applies advanced technology to solve difficult problems in a large $1.9 trillion industry.

The team has more than tripled in the past 12 months and is expected to grow again at a similar pace over the next year. Partly operates across Europe and Australasia and supports some of the world’s largest businesses as well as high-growth startups. Its platform is used by hundreds of companies worldwide to manage and catalogue parts online.

Partly is backed by investors including Blackbird Ventures, Square Peg, Octopus Ventures, Icehouse, Peter Beck, Akshay Kothari, and Dylan Field. The company is focused on building an environment where people can do the best work of their lives.

Role overview

This is a high-ownership product leadership position where you will take responsibility for one or more core products from strategy through outcomes. You will operate like a founder for your product area, with accountability for vision, product-market fit, growth, and business impact. The focus is not only on shipping features, but on ensuring the product creates long-term value as the business expands across different markets and customer groups.

The role expects a modern product mindset: fast validation, rapid prototyping, and strong use of AI-assisted tools to test ideas quickly. Rather than waiting for engineering availability, you should be comfortable building early versions yourself, gathering feedback in days, and using that signal to decide what to do next.

Key responsibilities

  • Shape and continuously refine the product vision, strategy, and roadmap in line with company goals.
  • Improve product-market fit across target segments and markets, including marketplace or multi-sided platform dynamics where relevant.
  • Own the core product metrics such as activation, adoption, retention, expansion, and NPS, and use them to guide decisions.
  • Drive go-to-market coordination for the product, including packaging, positioning, and rollout planning.
  • Take full accountability for outcomes, whether positive or negative.
  • Maintain frequent direct contact with customers through calls, site visits, and product usage sessions.
  • Speak separately with buyers and users to understand where their priorities overlap or differ.
  • Combine customer conversations with quantitative product data to form clear decisions and prioritisation.
  • Turn customer insights into action and share them with the teams that need them.
  • Create quick prototypes using AI-assisted development and LLM tools as a default way to explore product ideas.
  • Use prototypes as testable hypotheses and validate them with real customers before writing detailed specifications.
  • Design and run experiments, including A/B tests where appropriate, to inform prioritisation.
  • Work directly with data by defining metrics, building dashboards, and examining logs and signals yourself.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering leaders to balance discovery, delivery, and technical durability.
  • Coordinate with GTM, marketing, operations, and support so that launch plans and customer impacts are clearly understood.
  • Communicate priorities, trade-offs, and decisions clearly, especially when choices require saying no.
  • Represent customer realities in internal discussions using evidence rather than summaries.
  • Build feedback loops that help evaluate both system behaviour and user behaviour for AI-driven or agentic features.
  • Define success criteria for automated or AI-enabled functionality, including evaluations, edge-case handling, and measurable outcomes.
  • Think at a systems level and consider how product decisions affect the wider product loop.
  • Contribute to broader product coherence, shared principles, and the overall quality of product craft at Partly.
  • Help establish what excellent product ownership should look like as the team scales.

What you bring

  • At least 5 years of experience owning complex B2B software products end to end with accountability for outcomes.
  • Practical experience in discovery, roadmapping, and prioritisation in a fast-paced setting.
  • Comfort building quick prototypes yourself using AI tools, LLM-assisted development, or code as an early validation method.
  • Strong outcome orientation, including the ability to explain failures as clearly as successes.
  • Analytical strength to define metrics, create views, interpret data, and act without waiting for a data team.
  • Enough technical depth to work effectively with engineers and understand architectural trade-offs.
  • Strong judgment in ambiguous situations, with a willingness to decide, adjust, and own the result.
  • The ability to articulate trade-offs clearly, including what was not chosen and why.
  • Experience in B2B SaaS, APIs, marketplaces, or multi-sided platform businesses is a strong advantage.
  • Experience building AI-assisted products or AI-native features is a plus.
  • Comfort with feedback loops, evaluations, and system-level instrumentation is valued.
  • Background as a founder or as an early employee at a startup that scaled significantly is a strong signal.
  • Bonus experience includes automotive, logistics, or supply chain domains, multi-region product scaling, B2B product-led growth, and products with automation or agentic components.

How you will work

Partly is looking for someone who acts quickly, owns outcomes, and makes decisions with evidence. The team values people who build a test version without waiting for the sprint, pay attention to signals in logs and data, explain what the data means, and openly take responsibility when something does not work.

Location and onboarding

Partly has offices in London, Christchurch, and Austin. Wherever you are based, you will be connected to the nearest office for onboarding. The company also brings the full team together for quarterly Season Openers and covers travel and accommodation for those events. If you need to relocate to join the team, relocation support is available.

Benefits

  • Fresh, healthy lunches are provided on workdays in the Auckland, Christchurch, London, and San Francisco offices, along with snacks and drinks.
  • Employees receive a $1,500 annual wellness allowance, or the local equivalent, on a Partly-branded card for health and wellbeing expenses.
  • Primary caregivers get 3 months of fully paid parental leave and a flexible return-to-work arrangement of four days on full pay for the first three months back.
  • Commuters can choose either a paid 24/7 car park or a commute allowance when travelling to a Partly office or co-working space.
  • Offices are designed to support collaboration, creativity, and easy access to nearby cafes.
  • The company works from office locations by default in cities where it has an office, while still maintaining a high-trust culture that allows schedule flexibility.
  • Team connection is supported through weekly happy hours, monthly lunches, quarterly season openers, and an annual global offsite.
